Description

The book is a collection of my work made over the span of about 5 years. The title comes from a reimagining and reauthorising of memory and childhood. I had realised I had lost a chunk of memory due to childhood trauma and wanted to reassert it via my work and had also realised the themes which had ran throughout my practice all along. It is rooted in collective joy as resistance and our ability to shape our narratives against forces in control. From politics to family abuse, this book subverts the sadness into a fantasy of costume, rave and working class narratives. Class is rooted in the book as I explore what it means to make authentically working class imagery in an industry that is obsessed with the visuals yet condemns our actual existence.
