<text>In a recent visit to Iraq I was struck by the stark contrast between naked mannequins and the cultural norms surrounding women's attire in the country.
Mannequins of Iraq delves into this haunting juxtaposition of commercialism and conflict, featuring both broken and abandoned figures alongside those adorned with combat gear and traditional cultural dress. The abandoned mannequins symbolise a lost sense of normalcy, while those displaying military attire and vibrant garments reflect the rich tapestry of Iraqi identity.
This project invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of femininity, consumerism and the enduring impact of conflict on daily life and cultural expression.</text>
