Description

Parallax view is a build-up of 33 photographs made between 2017 and 2022 in the United States, Hungary, China, and Ecuador. In this sequence, I’m focusing on private and public scenes from a single point of view, shifting the focus from my domestic partnership to everyday life.

While seeking order and meaning in the ordinary randomness, I slowly realized what became the driving force is what’s the work’s about; it’s the object cause of desire. In Lacan’s theory ( objet petit a ) the object is not something we have lost. It is not a specific object but the “object” that derives from our personal history of desire. It’s the constant sense we have as humans, the feeling that something is lacking or missing from our lives.” The sequence was not to be a podium for an essay-like argument or statement. In opposition to permanence, it is rather a discontinuous assemblage of possibilities.
