105 Artists' Hands: Touch Tell Create

105 photographs of artists' hands. Hands are as expressive and as individual as faces, and are essential tools of almost all artists. Cally Trench met up with a diverse selection of artists at their studio or house, or at an exhibition or other event, and photographed their hands - sometimes one hand, sometimes both, usually in consultation with the artist about poses, props and backgrounds. The artists were all invited to write a short piece about their hands, lives and work, and these are printed under the photograph of their hands, creating a kind of dialogue between the artist and the photographer. The book also contains approximately 30 stand-alone hands-related pieces - essays, poems, stories, and visual projects by some of the artists photographed.
