<text>'Platform 1' is a collaborative project by photographers Saffron Liberty & Naomi Davison.

"We began this project during the UK’s final national lockdown, inspired by our newly heightened sense of curiosity in the people that surround us; born from months of isolation and social distancing. It had highlighted to us just how easy it is to paint an idea of a person, from the smallest of details they portray.

We realised this concept felt much like being at a train station. Where you nosily observe the people that pass you by, your watchfulness serving as procrastination whilst you wait for your train to pull in.

This is when we began to create a series of our own fictional hyper-real characters, all waiting for a train. Using ourselves as models, we took on their personas one by one with the aid of costume, prop and make-up.

The characters are full of clues suggestive of who they are, whilst also retaining a sense of ambiguity, forcing the viewer to make their own assumptions. In the same way we all do, even subconsciously, when observing a stranger for a fleeting moment."</text>
