However, what was a landmark for Britain's most cherished institution was somewhat overlooked as the NHS reeled from crisis to crisis. A public service that was founded on the principle of free at the point of need was struggling to cope with the aftermath of Covid, a crippling lack of investment in its infrastucture and plummeting morale amongst its health professionals. Realising the need to record these events for posterity was Hannah Deller, uniquely placed as a matron in a major London hospital who had been a professional photographer before training as a nurse. Hannah's mission was to document not just what was happening in the wards she was responsible for but also what was happening outside of the hospital.
