Jessica Brinton’s introduction to the Hole & Corner book, Still Life – When we stayed home, which documents the lives of 54 of our contributors during the three months of lockdown in spring 2020, highlights the ordinary moments of an extraordinary year. The spring lockdown was particularly felt by the crafters, makers, photographers and writers, whose usual creative lives were put on hold, their work confined to their homes and their hour-long daily walks. For many, it was a moment to pause and reflect, to focus on a personal project, learn something new, or to reimagine old ideas. Our senses seemed heightened by the impact of the pandemic, the relentlessness of the daily numbers of hospitalisations and death tolls, the anxiety we felt for our families and friends around the world.

<text>‘Vicky’ is a personal and raw collection of portraits and mobile phone snapshots shot in the summer of 2020 by Dutch photographer Ilja Keizer.

While the photographer is mostly known for his portrait work, this book has a much more personal, documentary style approach. With shooting just starting spontaneously after meeting Vicky on an awfully hot day, in a small rural town in the East of the Netherlands.

The images were made during an intense journey that led them around Europe in a little over 3 months, with the trip ending in a tiny Polish village where Vicky lives. The result is a highly personal document, including a signed print and various inserts.

We celebrate the ordinary and the overlooked, valuing the daily artistic flex as much as the images themselves. We create and share every day to connect our practice with others, keeping one another accountable to noticing the threads of our days and the passing details that might otherwise slip away. TREEs is a collection of trees photographed on film over the years.
Taken across different cities, seasons, and stages of life, these images document
the many forms and presences of trees, as well as the traces of time they carry.
For me, trees have always been a quiet and constant presence. Wherever they
are, they become part of the landscape around them, growing, changing, and
remaining in their own way.
TREEs is presented as a miniature keychain zine and comes with a set of tree
stickers. I hope these images can move beyond the page and become something
to carry with you — a small talisman from nature.</text>

Our mission is to honour photography as an everyday act of attention that belongs to everyone, regardless of experience or equipment. We celebrate the ordinary and the overlooked, valuing the daily artistic flex as much as the images themselves. We create and share every day to connect our practice with others, keeping one another accountable to noticing the threads of our days and the passing details that might otherwise slip away. <text>Jim Mortram has worked with Image & Reality to redesign his first sold-out book, Small Town Inertia, adding never-seen-before photos and testimony.

For seven years Jim Mortram photographed the lives of people in his community. He made their daily struggles visible, as they struggled through physical and mental problems and a failing social security system. Through his camera and their testimony Small Town Inertia shows their isolation and the loneliness in their daily lives. His work covers difficult subjects such as disability, addiction and self-harm, but is always with hope and dignity. Small Town Inertia is a testimony to the strength and resilience of the people he photographs.

All participants know that they have been photographed, they know that they have spoken into Jim's microphone, all are collaborators, not and never subjects and all they profoundly wish is that their testimony will be heard. Paramount for Small Town Inertia, since its creation, has always been collaboration with his community and the amplification of their testimony. Mortram says "We don't live in a country where people have no voice, but people seldom listen and choose to look the other way."

With new photographs and testimony, this edition of Small Town Inertia is available for pre-order now. Delivery from the printers is confirmed and orders will ship from February 20th, 2026.</text>
