<text>After going to protests for many years, I began bringing my camera in 2015 to document these moments of collective action and grassroots organising. For the past ten years I have photographed protests—mainly in London— standing alongside the groups and movements I document. It has been powerful to participate in and document protests that have achieved both small and significant political change. Yet many of the same issues persist, year after year. This ongoing resistance highlights the strength and perseverance of communities standing up for their rights. This is my first attempt at a small publication of these images, in the hope that they can continue to serve as a form of protest and support individuals and groups in educational contexts, libraries, archives, community spaces, and campaigns—or simply be shared as a reminder that we were there: holding a banner, taking action, demanding change. A historical record of powerful moments of protest—a physical copy to keep, share, and reflect upon. The zine was developed with Tamara Rabea through her Road Less Travelled Press, building on years of friendship, collaboration, and a shared commitment to protest photography. The zine has now sold out but a few copies remain for archival and collection purposes. Rooted in solidarity, the proceeds from the 150 copies, once production costs were covered, were donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a UK-registered charity providing essential healthcare and emergency relief in Gaza and the West Bank.</text>

<text>All Flowers Die On Venus is a handmade artist book documenting an anthotype print made from cucumber pigment as it fades over eight days. Created in memory of a close friend, the print depicts flowers bought on the anniversary of their passing. The work draws on the material impermanence of anthotype to reflect on grief, love, and the tension between preservation and the inevitable passage of time. The dried flowers and fading photograph suspend loss in time, capturing something once alive and beautiful like the memory of our friendship.</text>

We celebrate the ordinary and the overlooked, valuing the daily artistic flex as much as the images themselves. <text>“Saved: Objects of the Dead” is a collaborative book by artist Jody Servon and poet Lorene Delany-Ullman. The book considers how everyday possessions can mediate grief and sustain connections to the deceased. “Saved” features photographs of belongings saved after a loved one’s death paired with prose poems that honor the emotional afterlives of ordinary things. Combining object study, ethnography, photography, and language, “Saved” addresses intimacy, collective memory, and human mortality.

This fifteen year project was developed through contributions from participants who lent an object they had kept after the death of someone close to them and shared its story in an interview. The objects include items such as a star ornament, a worn matchbook, clothing, tools and other possessions marked by use and time. Each object is photographed with close attention to its presence, material details and evidence of wear. Interviews with each participant are distilled into spare prose poems that preserve each participant’s voice while creating space for broader reflection.

Word and image function as collaborators, forming a lyrical, community-produced archive of grief, memory, attachment, and enduring love. The directness of the photographs and poems allows the work to span differences in gender, age, occupation, marital status, culture, and religious belief while recognizing the shared experience of loss. As individuals and communities navigate death, separation, displacement, and change, “Saved” offers a quiet and humane space for reflection, recognition, and connection.

The book is the culmination of a long-term project and includes “Mattering,” an essay by Cora Fisher, Curator of Visual Art Programming at the Brooklyn Public Library. It also features invited micro-essays and photographs by artists and authors Sonya Clark, Alex Espinoza, Erika Hayasaki, Swati Khurana, and Leslie Gray Streeter. An online component, @savedobjects, extends the project by inviting public submissions and stories about objects kept after a death, reinforcing the artists’ commitment to shared storytelling and collective witness.</text>

<text>The moment humankind gained the ability to define things, everything came alive. We have been constantly wrapping the world in layer upon layer of rhetoric, creating different perspectives, metaphors and interpretations of everything. Every object, everything that happens. Contemporary life is saturated with “my” truths and the falsehoods of "others".

I found myself no longer able to distinguish the voices: “are they noise I should dismiss, or are they in fact part of what makes my existence?” Doubt and unease—about where I am headed, about truth and fallacy, right and wrong—quietly take root in a world that, in the my mind, alternates between agitation and stillness.

Noise is a photobook project born from this kind of doubtness. It a visual poem that shapes and poses an open inquiry into my disorientation in the modern world. In the current period, we have too many certainties in ideas and manifestos. They’re overflowing. Through the project, I attempt to find a direction whilst being immersed in the noise of loud opinionated voices in this over-certain age.

“Must one first batter their ears, that they may learn to hear with their eyes? ”
“Must one clatter like kettledrums and penitential preachers?”
“Or do they only believe the stammerer?”

After Nietzsche hurled these questions in Thus Spoke Zarathustra the metaphors from images embedded in Noise started questioning if people can truly see the reality behind the commotion of life and how we co-exist without interfering with others. How can we become the nomad who gallops across our own existential terrain?

Or maybe, as Kant says, we are merely confined within the room of our own will, gazing at distant things-in-themselves that remain forever beyond our reach?</text>

<text>Selected Works 21/25 by Joshua Hart is a retrospective journey through the past five years, this curated collection of photographs explores themes of connection, objectivity and ownership. The work reflects on photography’s ability to help us process experience, create meaning, and reshape our understanding of ourselves.

Our minds are like houses—big or small, modern or old, terraced or sprawling. When the rooms become cluttered, it can be difficult to move freely through them. Photography
offers a way to pause, observe, and organise what we carry with us - to renovate. By creating space for reflection, these images encourage a greater sense of ownership over lived experience, whether shaped by joy, loss, trauma, or growth. Through the act of looking, photography becomes not only a record of the world around us, but a means of understanding the world within.</text>

<text>The Nudes of Istanbul is an English-language hardcover photobook published in Berlin by Mijuk Papers in 2026. It presents a fourteen-year collective fine-art nude photography practice developed in Istanbul and brought into public view through a Berlin exhibition at Die Akt Galerie.

Curated and edited by Berlin-based photographer and curator Burak Bulut Yıldırım, the book brings together 14 photographers and 133 photographs across six conceptual chapters: Surface, Matter, Opacity, Rooms, Duration and Self-Possession. The works were made in Istanbul through real bodies, real light, constructed studio sets, material interventions and explicit consent.

To our knowledge, The Nudes of Istanbul is the second collective nude art photography book in the century-long history of the Turkish Republic. Within that rare publication history, the book is also distinctive because it includes texts by three model-authors: Zeynep Renda, Su Yeşil and Marmelat. Their contributions address trust, boundaries, consent, body experience, modelling labour and the position of the model as an author within the work.

The publication also includes a foreword and extended curatorial essay by Burak Bulut Yıldırım. It is conceived as an autonomous photobook rather than a standard exhibition catalogue.</text>

<text>Jim Mortram has worked with Image & Reality to redesign his first sold-out book, Small Town Inertia, adding never-seen-before photos and testimony.

For seven years Jim Mortram photographed the lives of people in his community. He made their daily struggles visible, as they struggled through physical and mental problems and a failing social security system. Through his camera and their testimony Small Town Inertia shows their isolation and the loneliness in their daily lives. His work covers difficult subjects such as disability, addiction and self-harm, but is always with hope and dignity. Small Town Inertia is a testimony to the strength and resilience of the people he photographs.

All participants know that they have been photographed, they know that they have spoken into Jim's microphone, all are collaborators, not and never subjects and all they profoundly wish is that their testimony will be heard. Paramount for Small Town Inertia, since its creation, has always been collaboration with his community and the amplification of their testimony. Mortram says "We don't live in a country where people have no voice, but people seldom listen and choose to look the other way."

With new photographs and testimony, this edition of Small Town Inertia is available for pre-order now. Delivery from the printers is confirmed and orders will ship from February 20th, 2026.</text>

<text>Embarking on an inner journey — primarily along biological pathways, not spiritual ones — the exploration gradually transforms into something deeper: a ‘journey within’. Along this path, we are invited to rediscover the essence of life and the true nature of our being. Through new perspectives on the living world, familiar structures are revealed in unfamiliar ways, challenging what we believe we already know. These images seek to bridge the gap between art and science, between the visible and the invisible. By searching for alternative imaging tools, hidden worlds, normally beyond the reach of the human eye or camera, are brought into vision. In this spirit, details from cross-sections of (diseased) animal tissues have been freely extracted, enlarged, and reimagined — shaping natural phenomena, landforms, and landscapes from within the biological fabric of life.
In Māori, “whenua” means both “land” and “placenta” — a dual meaning that frames this journey inward as both an exploration of biological origin and a reimagining of landscape. What is beneath the skin is not separate from the world we walk upon. It invites us to reconsider boundaries not as separations, but as deep connections between origin and terrain, body and earth.</text>
