<text>The title, Hanami | Aoyama 花見青山, refers to the tradition of hanami - literally "flower viewing", where people gather and celebrate under cherry trees during blossom season, engaging in festive meals and bouts of drinking. This book is set in Aoyama Cemetery, which was a popular destination for such parties. But as the drinking and festivities overwhelmed the peacefulness of the cemetery, parties were outlawed in 2009.

<text>HANDOVER is a visual conversation between photography communities in London and Manchester. A gesture towards bridging a creative gap between the two cities, the publication brings together 27 photographers to showcase work that exists outside commercial constraints. This book contains the personal, experimental, narrative-driven, and often overlooked imagery that might otherwise sit on a hard drive or in a print box without a home.

The publication is split into three chapters, ‘Even Seeing a Rainbow in the City is Rare’, ‘Lust and Laundry’ and ‘The Fable’, each accompanied by a poem. We asked contributors to respond to the three titles and through these responses, HANDOVER becomes an act of exchange: a passing of perspective and interpretation between photographers and cities.</text>

<text>Har Shaam Shaheen Bagh* is an ode to the infinite courage and resilience of the women of Shaheen Bagh, Delhi, who sat in protest for a 100 days and nights. A book of photographs, drawings, songs, letters and other material gathered as a record of the iconic protest, marks an extraordinary moment in the political and contemporary history of India.

In December 2019 a small group of Muslim women from the working-class neighbourhood of Shaheen Bagh, came out of their homes and sat down in protest, occupying a stretch of one of Delhi’s busiest highways. They were standing up against the Citizenship Amendment Act, which was designed to strip the Constitution of India of its right to religious equality. This peaceful sit-in began in December 2019 until the
pandemic sent India into lockdown, and the state used this as an opportunity to destroy and dismantle all traces of the protest. This
book serves as urgent and crucial evidence of a time that is systematically being erased from our collective memory.

From the women of Standing Rock and Black Lives Matter, The Dandi March and Chipko Movement, and those at the frontlines of India’s non-violent protests, this book is an act of remembrance that preserves the
powerful legacy of women at the forefront of historic revolutions.

The process of a tsunami—triggered by an invisible tremor, building gradually, and finally delivering a series of waves that sweep away everything—is the perfect analogy for emotional loss.

This visual essay explores the tsunami of a friend's death: the hidden build-up of sorrow, the initial moment of shock where the world seems to recede, and the overwhelming impact that follows. Ultimately, the book is about what remains when the emotional flood finally recedes, leaving a landscape that is both familiar and irrevocably altered.</text>

<text>As a Londoner based amateur photographer who generally focuses on the urban life, I have recently started to appreciate the remoteness and tranquillity some places can provide.

For my very first post-pandemic holiday I decided to visit the Orkney, and I was amazed by the beautiful landscapes and the authenticity of their people. While visiting Westray, a small island at the far north of the archipelago, I stumbled upon a carefully dressed scarecrow. And another one. And one more, and so forth.

Little did I know they had been created by families all across the isle with the aim to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Powered primarily by kind donations, their search and rescue service has been saving lives for nearly 200 years. This is a collection of the sixteen I met on my way while traveling all over the island of Westray. Part of the proceeds of this photo project will be donated to the RNLI.
