An account of the resource
In this book I explore the
complicated relationship cleaved
between women and wetness.
In our youth it is a boon, we are
flushed with youthful beauty, our
tears are a tool. The first red bloom
of our menses signifies transition
into womanhood. The absence of
this and the breaking of our waters;
motherhood.
The prickling sting of our milk
coming in when a baby cries
at once presents sustenance;
nurturing , comforting but it can
also be a weighty anchor.
Then all at once this wetness, that
was once an ally- a signifier of
sexuality, fertility, beauty- turns
on us. Our bodies, weakened from
childbirth, slip and leak, flush and
sweat. Eventually this wetness
abandons us altogether. As we age,
the moisture that once defined our
utility begins to betray us and we
are left with dryness in its stead.
Using sometimes abstract,
sometimes literal examples, I unpick
this shifting, complex relationship
photographically. Drawing on the
pull of the tides and the lapping,
vacillating nature of this wetness
I use the erosion of the natural
landscape as a counterpoint.

Comprising 51 black and white photographs, False Friends by Dublin based photographer and master printer, DOMINIC TURNER, ponders notions of absence and misunderstanding and invites the viewer to embrace the shadows and obfuscations of a familiar, yet unrecognisable world.
"There are those who would have us believe that the scariest of monsters dwell in the shadows and that we must be on permanent guard. I prefer to think that, while always striving to increase our understanding of the world, we can acknowledge and accept the things we do not know and bathe in the soothing powers of the shade."
Turner’s work has a tactile, almost ethereal quality, which stems from his fastidious and experimental approach to the process of image making. These are images that are deeply ponderous in nature and often require repeated viewings which reveal the subtle details that unlock the work.

The project was Inspired by our personal relationship, which blossomed during the Covid-19 lockdown, but also out of a struggle with feeling stuck and uninspired with our personal work at the time.
For over two years we photographed couples in their homes, mostly around Israel but also in the UK and Europe.
Our aim is to represent couples that are often overlooked by mainstream media, by making the invisible - visible.
For us, the most special thing about this project is the experience of witnessing love, intimacy, and acceptance between the couples, which is beyond social norms, gender, body image, disabilities, age, culture, etc.
Each time we left a couples’ house after a shoot, we felt very lucky, inspired, and mostly thankful for the chance to witness and commemorate all of that through our photography.
You are invited to the lives and homes of 25 couples, depicting different settings and lifestyles.

Some Fading Thing is a photographic tribute to Soho's famous New Evaristo Club (aka Trisha's).
Once described by the late great Antony Bourdain as the "Dean Martin of drinking establishments", Trisha's - named in honour of its Italian matriarch Trisha Bergonzi - has been serving the great and the good from a basement bar in Greek Street since 1942. Always in Italian hands, and in Trisha's, specifically, for close to three decades, the club is seen by many as one of the last surviving connections to 'Old Soho'.
Photographers and long time Trisha's members Alex Eden-Smith and Matt Davey documented their joint visits to the New Evaristo over a 12 month period, capturing stolen moments of reckless merriment and portraits of the club's staff and eclectic clientele. Shot entirely on 35mm film, Some Fading Thing is intended as a raucous celebration of one of late night London's hidden gems.

While visiting her nana in November 2019, Angela Christofilou joined one of her regular bingo games at St James Church Hall in Heywood, Lancashire. For years the activity was a space for locals to regularly gather and participate in the game.
Christofilou captures the special community atmosphere and energy of the group, all of whom were participants.
Bingo at the hall sadly came to an end due to lockdown and covid-19 restrictions, forcing members to stop socialising in such settings. This collection of 28 images is a commemoration of Heywood’s elderly community spirit, but also spotlights fading
cultural traditions in a post-pandemic, post-Brexit Britain. Church Bingo illustrates the importance to smile, and enjoy the finer things in life while we’re here - friends, a cuppa tea and bingo.
