<text>Extra Ordinary is a self-published photobook capturing the beauty, humour, and subtle irony of daily life as seen throughout the streets of East London — with moments also drawn from other corners of the capital. Shot primerily on 35mm film these images celebrate the short-lived and often overlooked details of everyday life.

The images document just over a year’s worth of work. They draw a line in the sand—a moment in time spent uncovering the remarkable, the humour, and the ‘extra’ in the ‘ordinary’—an ongoing journey that certainly doesn’t end here.</text>

<text>As part of the 2025 Berkofsky Arts Award, Prem Dosanjh has used the awarded grant to produce a project centred around his family history that explores Glaswegian-Punjabi culture. His work looks towards a personal archive of his family history, examining both written and photographic documents and organising this material into a photobook collection of scanned images and film photographs. Prem spent time at his Nani’s house in Glasgow collecting scans of older photographs, documents and objects and taking new photographs of his Nani and mother in the city. Through recontextualising older archive material, he aims to emphasise that histories of migration do not possess a conclusive ‘end’ and instead take new forms in subsequent generations, shaping British culture.</text>

<text>Record is Stefan Dotter’s first monograph, documenting natural habitats and indigenous communities in the Amazon, Borneo and Madagascar. From 2021, he undertook a three-year journey to explore the relationship between humans and nature, photographing remote regions while working closely with the non-profit Health In Harmony. Designed by Jonny Lu Studio, the book draws from natural science documents and field journals, pairing Dotter’s prints with essays, reflections and notes.

Themes of transparency, time and interconnectedness shape the book’s tactile form: instead of a hardcover, delicate semi-transparent papers wrap the artwork plates, echoing the fragile layers that protect our environment. A special edition of 100 copies includes a custom box and a hand-printed chromogenic print.

All profits support Health In Harmony, and the project was made possible through a grant from Future Being.</text>

<text>This is a story about home and its significance for those who have become immigrants — whether by force or by choice.

Through photography, I aim to tell the stories of these people, capturing them in places or with objects that give them a sense of belonging, and to understand what home is made of — memories, smells, recurring rituals, and habits. Has the understanding of home in their new reality fundamentally changed? Perhaps, in the traditional sense, home no longer exists.

For me, this project is about exploring others' experiences through immersing myself in each story. It’s also about self-discovery, as I am someone who recently left my home. I keenly realise the need to find that place where one ‘feels at home’, and I continue to search for that place myself.</text>

I propose an affective archaeology where the visual record does not document an act, but participates in it, inscribing itself within the secret continuity of rituals from druidic, shamanic, and pagan cultures. The body, as a sensitive archive, becomes the bridge to reactivate ancestral memory and, at the same time, serves as an embodiment of the landscape, allowing us to understand the connection between the elements, nature, and the spiritual.

every last vestige in them of belief in miracles, every breath of theirs which still inhales a perfume of fairytales reveals itself beneath the wretched,
crazed disguise of these feebly invented landscapes »

Louis Aragon, Paris Peasant

Here, not far from Paris, were marshes, which became a vegetable plain of one of the largest agricultural territories in Europe.
Between 1952 and 1972, gypsies from Andalusia settled here, as well as Roma from Eastern Europe, Portuguese, Algerians, Moroccans, Tunisians, Yugoslavians, and a few French families, in insalubrious conditions, in what was known as the Campa slum.

Now, one seems to feel there this « feeling of nature » dear to the surrealists, and that the peasant of Aragon experienced when he walked through the park of Buttes-Chaumont, north of the concomitant capital.
Like the latter, the Parc de La Courneuve was invented and built from scratch.
Spread over five communes, it imposes its opulent landscape on the rough and dry of the Paris suburbs.
Vast plains, belvederes, mounts and pyramids: everything is aimed at re-appropriating a perspective free from the housing blocks that streak the viewer’s eyes just a few steps away, and which here can only be discerned from above, rendered minuscule by the strength of the mineral vantage points.

If there is NATURE, it is in a double language game: first, the one fenced, arranged, structured, by the landscapers and then reinterpreted by the occupants. Here, dense vegetation and stone sculptures, dark woods and clear lines, modern practices and the primitive power of trees are confronted and mixed.

Through the constitutive duality of the park, the inner strength of the beings who cross it is revealed, their nature in a second sense. An enclosed space, but a space of freedom, it creates its autonomy and its aesthetic independence at the same time by its porosity – the entrance is free – and its opacity.
In the silence of the place, contemporaneity sinks into this hybrid space as into an original reverse, creating an asynchronous picture where reality becomes fable. And then, as in the words of Aragon, “reflect faithfully the vast sentimental regions where the city dwellers wild dreams stir”.</text>

<text>Inside the Warrior explores, discovers, and redefines what it means to be a man, what it means to be a yogi and how we in the West view this art and the men who practice it. By showcasing their astonishing physicality and depth of vulnerability, this work delivers a visual masterpiece and a thought provoking examination of men in a yoga world dominated by women.
Inside the Warrior uncovers how the physicality of the practice has evoked a deeper awakening of the male consciousness - what is really happening in the yoga practive, beyond just words and forms. We explore the male voice and shape to encourage new forms of expression and deeper conversation around masculinity.
In its simplest form, Inside the Warrior provides portraits and interviews with male yogis. In its fullest expression, it is a riveting new look at how this ancient art is practiced today. </text>

Petal is a photographic series by Bex Day, created in celebration of the uniqueness
of the vulva. Each vulva pictured in the collection is covered by either a single petal
or flower to simultaneously reflect their shared qualities and individuality in an
effort to dismantle the taboos that envelop female genitalia.
Colloquial terms for the vagina, including “pussy”, “cunt” and “gash”, have all
been adopted as negatives in the English language; being used as insults, curses or
as an insinuation of weakness or passivity. In society as we know it, the vagina has for
too long been perceived as the lesser sexual organ, conceptualised not on its qualities
but what it lacks in comparison to the penis. Even the word vagina itself evokes a
squeamishness among many, highlighting the urgent need for a change of perspective.
Young children, especially people who are socialised and raised as female,
are brought up to name their private parts “flower” and “foo-foo” among other
diminutive names. This foundation has created a public misconception of what is
considered a “normal” vagina, partially due to typecasting in porn and portrayals in
mainstream media, but also the result of cultural censorship.
The shape, colour and size of each petal has been chosen by each individual
featured to represent how they see their own vagina. The series aims to unify
female, non-binary and female-identifying individuals by showing the similarities of
their vaginas rather than focusing on what is considered different.
Spanning varying ages, races, genders, hair types, sizes and shapes, the series is a
captivating and colourful compilation, with each image being accompanied by a message
written by the subject about their own feelings about and experiences of their bodies.
The book also features a foreword by blogger, author and public speaker
Natalie Alexis Lee, who has more than 110,000 followers on Instagram.</text>
