From the beginning it was a cultural trailblazer, covering music, fashion, film, TV, society, politics and global current affairs. And it covered them with invention, innovation, wit and class – and not to mention with groundbreaking graphic design. The gallery of cover stars is as eclectic as it is iconic: from Kate Moss to Alexander McQueen, New Order to The Stone Roses, Grace Jones to David Beckham, Beyoncé to Björk. The talent behind the stories was legendary, too, as the magazine worked with the best writers, photographers, stylists and designers in the world. The Face didn’t only report on the culture. It became the culture. For over 25 years, The Face was at the heart of British and international creativity. This undefined term poses numerous challenges but for this text it acts as a conceptual premise, loaded with historical and academic context, to allow a modern visualisation of death, anxiety and beauty, unrestrained by academia. Title A name given to the resource The Fourth Man - Prater: Vienna’s Funfair Description An account of the resource One of Vienna’s most popular attractions is Prater, a funfair dating as far back as 1766. It is home to the Wiener Riesenrad, the Ferris wheel featured in 1949 film noir ‘The Third Man’. A mixture of new and older rides, food stands, beer halls and other attractions, it’s a popular place for locals and tourists to gather for a dose of fun. Prater appeals to me greatly as it’s colourful, provides a huge variety of lettered signs (which Vienna does so well) and, if you go at the right time, the light interacts with buildings and statues there in a beautiful way. ‘The Fourth Man - Prater: Vienna’s Funfair’ collects together many of my favourite photos taken here.
