Title A name given to the resource If You're Fond Of Sand Dunes Description An account of the resource The Humberston Fitties In Summer. The plotland movement developed at the turn of the 20th century and gained pace in the interwar years as people escaped the cramped and dirty towns and cities of Britain for their own piece of paradise in the countryside or by the coast. These pieces of land were on the margins, hilly landscapes or fields thick with clay that were unprofitable to farm but could be rented out as plots where disused railways carriages could be placed or timber chalets could be constructed, adapted and used as a place of escape. A change in planning laws in 1948 slowly brought the end of many of these plotlands through demolition, conversion to static caravan holiday parks or as they became permanent residences. A few still survive though, dotted around the country. One of those precarious survivors is the Humberston Fitties, named after the local word for salt marsh, in North East Lincolnshire. This selection of photographs, taken between 2011 & 2021, is the second in a long term series and shows the Fitties as spring stumbles into summer, full of colour. Title A name given to the resource Buddha Was Born Here Description An account of the resource BUDDHA WAS BORN HERE is a collection of abstract and documentary photographs from Olgaç Bozalp’s travels throughout Nepal's villages, towns and Himalayas. This travel diary is an amalgam of Bozalp’s exploration of self through colour, composition and space; distinct from his signature body of work of his meticulously staged settings. This is Bozalp’s debut self-published zine. This visit marks Olgaç’s first international trip outside of assigned work in recent years. With no real initial intention of photographing the country, Bozalp was precipitously captivated by its people, their spirituality and relationship with nature, compelling him to immerse himself in the experience through his camera lens. Bozalp was profoundly influenced by the abstract of every day, such as a man camouflaged in a large display made of foliage as he transports them back; rather than the intervention of human manipulation; or staging, commonly found in his body of work. This publication reflects his experience of searching for a higher meaning in the present, our place in the world, and his pursuit of understanding a culture whose people seek truth by looking inward to reflect their happiness Each copy comes with a unique vintage Nepalese mailing stamp on its slipcase. Title A name given to the resource Won't Go To Heaven - The Graffiti Of The Sex Pistols Description An account of the resource On a short street in the outskirts of London’s Soho, a vast musical history exists within its walls. Denmark Street has hosted music publishers, instrument shops, gig venues, and recording studios. The Rolling Stones recorded their first album there, Elton John wrote songs on a roof, and David Bowie lived in a converted ambulance. It also played its part in the history of punk as, early in their career, The Sex Pistols lived and recorded there. I’d heard that Johnny Rotten had adorned the walls there with graffiti of the band and its associates, so decided to try and gain access to photograph them. In 2015 I pleaded with the building’s manager to get access to the room and was told to come back another time. I tried again a week later, and was told the same thing. This happened a few times until, either he took pity on me or I’d worn him down. But, either way… I was in! Many faces, many people and many hours well spent.’. Café de l’après-midi’, a zine by photographer Matthew Johnson is a collection of images candidly taken as strangers walked past his street side cafe table in Paris. The images capture the haste of Parisian life as those photographed hurry past. With a short snap and shoot interaction, the images are a quick observation, inspired by the old French photographers, and unique feeling of being in Paris. The Zine is designed and put together by designer Daniel Kevin Lloyd, which hints towards traditional French printed design. Title A name given to the resource Melita Description An account of the resource The zine wants to document the old Malta, the "real" one, the one I've known since I have memories, and it wants to document the island through the eyes of those who have visited it every year since 1993 until today, experiencing its fast and constant change. I tried to convey what Malta was and still is in part before skyscrapers and consumerism completely took over the island. This project encloses curiosities and historical notions of such a small place that it is almost incredible to believe the amount of history it can hide. The fanzine is shot entirely on 35mm, with expired and unexpired rolls of film, to try to convey the sensations and reconstruct in the reader's imagination the life of the past in this beautiful place. Title A name given to the resource 《Fu Pao Mary》 Description An account of the resource Fu Pao Mary is an independently published photography zine, which publishing by four Hong Kong-based photographers, Raby Chan, Alex Fung, PW and Paul Yeung. From the various topics featured in each issue, photography experiments and responses are included by the four photographers with their distinctive interpretations. In this volume, 10 Hong Kong photographers across the world scattered in Finland, the United Kingdom, the States, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, had contributed a series of their work in response to one subject issue: displacement. As rootless as Hong Kong has ever been, being displaced, perhaps, denotes a root that has sprouted during a set of borrowed time and space - during 2021, what and where have we displaced? Is it in Poly U? Is it our moving home? Or, the floating clouds up in Hong Kong’s sky, the views flashing out the window in a foreign country, a room faraway home, a bleak and tedious journey, a letter from homeland… My fellow Hongkongers, are you doing well? Title A name given to the resource A Guide to Fry an Egg: The Egg theory on Photography Description An account of the resource Observing, picking, measuring, transforming, flavouring, distributing, and being consumed. I have set up a humorous hypothesis that traces the uncanny similarities of the process between ‘frying an egg’ and ‘taking a photograph’ from the nature of the subject to its multiple strategies and manifestations. Through the perspective of the symbolic interactionism theory proposed by the sociologist Herbert Blumer, this essay investigates the ways in which the creation, observation, and dissemination of images in contemporary society can be seen similarly to how we consume eggs. The fleshiness and fluidity, choices of cracking, consumer culture, the postmodern moulds, abjection of the yolk, expiration date, salt and pepper, as well as all the invisible diseases...
