<text>Throughout the English countryside there is an underground movement. For nearly a decade, members of the public have taken to using direct action to protect one of the country’s most iconic wild animals - the badger. The culling of badgers is part of the UK Government’s controversial bovine tuberculosis eradication program. It has so far, according to Government documents, resulted in over 140,000 killed since the program began in 2013 and is set to continue until 2026. In its first year, culling took place in two zones and has since expanded to 61 zones across the country, resulting in yearly increases in badgers killed. In 2021 alone, over 75,000 badgers could have been killed.

Scientists, conservationists and even politicians are continuing to challenge the legitimacy of culling badgers as an effective means of controlling the spread of Bovine Tuberculosis. However, it is the efforts of this underground movement that is actually taking action to stop it. They make great personal sacrifices and face considerable risk. Their efforts deserve our recognition.</text>

<text>'A lizard walked beside me in the desert’ by Dutch photographer Janko Bosch offers a fascinating insight into the sealed-off county Iran. When Janko Bosch visited Iran, the country was suffering under strict economic sanctions and was branded as part of the Axis of evil by arch-enemy USA . This project shows everyday urban scenes and surfaces but is just as much about the ever inescapable presence of the regime just below the visible surface of Iran.</text>

<text>Live at Wembley 21 is a collection of photos taken at both the semi-finals and final of the Euros at Wembley. This zine shows the contradiction between the empty stadiums of the photobook LFF 20/21 to one of the biggest events that can happen in the world of football, a semifinal and final of a Euro, all in the same city of London. It is interesting to see the contrast between the early empty and silent stadiums to the later occupied ones, which once again buzz with anticipation. Wembley was the first large-scale event after the pandemic and I wanted to document the explosion of emotions.

The project has been shot on film to invoke feelings of nostalgia from a bygone era and it is my belief that film is the only medium that can truly capture the raw passion of the 12th Man, the crowd. The spirit of Football lies in the fact that it is for everyone. </text>

<text>Cringe Magazine is an independent publication exploring shame and self-consciousness through writing and art.

In our third round of interrogating cringe, like the discomfort that being perceived by others brings us, and the self-consciousness that comes with perceiving ourselves, we wanted to focus on the awkwardness of molding our ever-changing bodies to time and space.

But instead of looking at metaphysical spaces alone, long-time contributor Christopher reflects on the generational tension he encounters on the tennis court and discovers the virtue of occupying spaces for a seemingly pointless round of sports, while Stella discusses the constant tension between body positivity and society’s submission to the trend cycle. We also reflect on the tense and tender space of human relationships, not to forget the relationship we have with ourselves.

Just like in previous issues, this edition is full of thoughtful poetry and art submissions exploring the (ab)used body, self-consciousness exhibited through the lens of an unknown photographer, and the curse of the perfectionist who wants to be seen by others while at the same time hiding from their judgement.</text>
