<text>Synergy is a collaboration between photographer, Paulina Korobkiewicz and painter, Jack Martyn Richardson. The couple explores how two creative approaches allow each other to exist in unison.

The zine combining spray paint prints and polaroids of the process behind them, is an outcome of their self-assigned residency in the countryside of Suwalszczyzna, Poland where Paulina grew up. The landscape of this region which inspired Paulina’s photographic practice serves as a background for Jack’s painting process which, in turn becomes the subject of their collaboration. The joint publication is accompanied by a video emphasising the physicality of the work as well as its relationship to the environment it's being made in. The process of making the publication overlays with its outcome, exploring how a process is also a result and vice versa.

The publication has two versions of the cover. The package wrapped in a transparent plastic sleeve includes a one postcard, two posters and two stickers.</text>

<text>The photographs in this series were made in East London between 2009 and 2013. They feature objects and creatures that I sourced from the local surroundings and placed into the body of my camera.

I hoped through this method to encourage the spirit of the place to clamber aboard the images and be encapsulated in the film emulsion, like objects embedded in amber. My aim was to evoke the feeling of the area at the same time as describing its appearance as the subject was both in front and behind the camera lens at the same moment.

I like to think of these photographs as in-camera photograms in which conflict or harmony has been randomly formed in the final image depending on where the objects landed.</text>

<text>The name Tartarus refers to the place of torture and punishment in Greek mythology. Most of the Titans and the fifty female Danaides were imprisoned there, and many others too.

The dead stumps and twisted, split or hollow trees of Epping Forest bear witness to the forestry practice of pollarding. Up until the 1870’s the wood was cut and sold over and over again, exhausting the tree until sometimes only a hollow stem was left. These scarred trees and stumps are like magnificent sculptures to me, screaming in silent agony but also still standing mighty proud. In this series I wanted to give them space and light, and let them tell their own tales.
