<text>In her first art book, Lea examines her own physicality as a canvas for expression, its curves and musculature in a constant dialogue with colour and light. The twin energies of the masculine and feminine diverge and meld from page to page. Notions of the female gaze blur in and out of focus, as she pushes further and further from the figurative form to create on a purely abstract plane. The body is layered with symbolism: distorted in chiaroscuro, solarized, fragmented and redrawn in wax crayon. Created through performative exercises of ‘light painting’, Lea’s dark room prints weave in and out of formality: auras pulse around joints and concentric circles or flurries of inverted pyramids denote chakras and energy centers, activating strength and acknowledging fragility all at once.</text>

Customers who paid to view her naked body and watch her perform sex acts on herself were offered a discounted price if they consented to being photographed. The resulting series of black and white photographs, baroque-like in their dramatic lighting, are free of any prejudice. <text>Smollifox is a 42-page publication tracking the clandestine life of urban foxes caught on trail-cam and 35mm film. Through grainy, ghostly images printed in black ink on silver paper, the project documents London foxes navigating spaces that were never designed for them. Untameable, cunning, oddly charismatic and uninvited, the fox has always inhabited a special corner of our imagination, both historically through myth and folklore and presently as an unmovable presence lurking in our gardens and street corners.

Constructed around the concept of nimbyism, (not in my backyard) where nature is continuously fenced out, the project explores human aggression towards city foxes. Smollifox is a story of survival, obsession, and the irony of a species that has no true habitat yet thrives in the spaces we leave behind.
