<text>The photographs in this book were made in Brighton and Hove during 2010. They feature objects and creatures that I scooped up from the local surroundings and introduced into the body of my camera.

The results included some highly detailed macro recordings amongst and within the landscapes and portraits. I like to think of these photographs as in-camera photograms in which conflict or harmony has been randomly formed in the final image depending on where the objects landed.

I also used a magnifying glass to concentrate the Brighton sunlight onto some of the negatives in order to etch markings directly onto the image. Some of the negatives I dipped in the sea. I was imagining and hoping the finished series would be like the regurgitated contents of a giant vacuum cleaner.</text>

A microcosm of the world yet so uniquely itself. Shot between 2019-2025, ‘Oxford Street’ documents life and the passing of time along the strip between Marble Arch and Tottenham Court Rd. A place where commerce, leisure and faith collide in an endless loop, reinforcing our multiple singularity as mere mortals passing through. An overstimulating place even by London standards, the images attempt to compose the chaos, playing with time and reassembly for better understanding. Casting a seldom-applied empathetic eye on the landmark, while staying true to its rhythm and flow. And ultimately posing a question to the viewer: where is your place here? And in the wider world. </text>

<text>P. STAN (Pazhwaak Stan, meaning “voice”) contains a selection of photographs captured in Pakistan (2023) to document the reality of the country and the system dictating it during that period.

Pakistan is positioned at the crossroads of the Middle East and South Asia. Much like many of its neighbours, Pakistan is portrayed in Western media as a red zone. This is due to natural disasters, infrequent terrorist attacks and corruption. This has inevitably shaped the way of life for its nationals.

The risk associated with Pakistan led me to question how that risk plays into daily life. The answer I got gave me insight into a mentality faced in not knowing what the future holds.

These pictures document the people and places that answered that question.

This selection forms part of a wider series documenting the Stan countries.</text>
