<text>Humans live, age, and eventually face their seemingly inevitable death. For all living beings, death is the immutable constant – a natural law – to which all life succumbs. But what happens when this law loses its validity?

Several hundred people worldwide are putting their faith in the promise of a future technology designed to make their death reversible. In the meantime, their bodies, or optionally just their brains, are stored in nitrogen-cooled tanks at minus 196 degrees Celsius.

For his graduation work, Janick Entremont delves into a subject as ancient as humanity itself: death and how we deal with it. In doing so, he not only documents the ambitious experiment called cryonics, but also searches for clues to the existential question raised by what it enables: what is the value of time if it does not end?</text>

<text>Duran' is a calendar that explores the interaction between humans and nature through the subjective sensations of the authors regarding the changing seasons, the reinterpretation of familiar surroundings, and the cultural code of Belarusian tradition.

The name of the calendar comes from two words: "du", which means "two", and "ra", which means "sun", and together they form the word "duran'" meaning two suns. This does not exist in reality, but everything can be simultaneously real and fantastical, if we suppose, that what we are accustomed to is deceptive. We used to call a fool someone, who is stupid or whose opinion does not coincide with the majority, but in this context "duran'" is someone, who thinks differently, and is not necessarily wrong, but has their own perspective on things.

Therefore, the project's authors reinterpret the objective reality, using the familiar and established form of the calendar, to take a fresh look at the concept of the relationship between humans and nature.

The central character is the depersonalized human, each one of us, a part of nature that cyclically changes from month to month along with it. Not only the human is a part of nature, but all its derivatives exist inseparably, not always in harmony, but always together (the unity of the urban and the natural). In a sense, garbage has become part of this reality of nature; it is our objectivity. By incorporating garbage, we remind of its existence, and each observer is free to choose their own attitude towards it.

The concept of the unity of humans and nature is well traced in Belarusian tradition, where many significant stages of human life are connected with nature. Therefore, here you can find imitations of a goat mask for the Kalyady, the wedding attire of the bride, the Kupalle wheel, traditional headwear like the namitka and etc as yet another reminder of the deep connection between human and nature.

The book is infinite in its structure and concept, just like the changing seasons and the parallel transformations of human life. The cover is cut from a pattern of a Belarusian traditional shirt, with a tag and a hand-printed ink imitation ornament.

The project was created by two artists, Nastа Kanapelka, working in the direction of trash-plant art [author's], and Alice Gurinovich, working in the direction of contemporary photography, so the project exists at the intersection of several techniques and approaches, creating a new perspective on the issue.</text>

<text>‘The Bush Monster’ is a photographically illustrated rhyming story for children inspired by both my son and nature in my garden, located in the Dutch woodland region ‘The Veluwe’. The project tells an unusual story of a bush monster who is used to hunting creatures that are different than others and chooses a wooden reindeer as his next target.
Having a child who is being raised in multiple languages by two parents who have different nationalities, for me as a mother means paying extra attention to how well the child fits into a local children’s social circle. Bullying happens across all ages, to children and adults alike. People who are bullied often feel miserable, scared, hurt and ashamed. Quite often the person being bullied suffers in silence and feels lonely. This peculiar tale, which is dedicated to my son, can serve as a starting point for a more in-depth discussion between an adult and a child, raising questions around such topics as bullying, being different, envy, empathy and forgiveness.
‘The Bush Monster’ is a conceptual continuation of the rhyming story ‘What happens to leaves when they fall off trees?’ and illustrates a story with nature photography told in an anthropomorphistic manner and with an emphasis on pareidolia, highlighting arbitrary connections in nature that lead to new meanings by combining, cutting, adjusting, rearranging, decolourising, flipping, inverting, layering and mirroring digital photographic images to achieve unusual combinations which the viewer can decipher together with the complementing textual information. The project also includes digital pinhole and reversed lens images. It all includes work from other mediums such as handmade paper, organic matter and a sound track, allowing the playfulness and experimentation to further enrich the project, and providing an opportunity for children to interact with the story by actively involving visual sense in combination with textual information and auditory and tactile senses, offering a more complex engagement.</text>

                <text>Quinn (2014-2020)
This is the fictional story of a young man, William Henry Quinn, who is walking from the south-west of England to the far north of Scotland in post Second World War Britain.
Although fictional, the work is in response to the real experiences of young men and women post-trauma, both in the early twentieth century and now. The life changes imposed on each generation by conflict and global socio-economic collapse as well personal tragedy produces a constant stream of people left untethered, travelling in any way they can to find a new home, a new purpose and to rebuild their place in the world.
As we follow Quinn on his odyssey, we travel with him on a physical and metaphorical journey mediated by the British landscape, which is both changed and unchanged since the 1940s. The ancient byways along which he and others have travelled remain as they were then, and yet with the immutability of change and the unremitting nature of time passing, lives and memories change and fade. As we walk alongside Quinn and learn his story, we may perhaps come to understand more about our own search for existential meaning, and ponder our own purpose in life.
The work consists of large-format photographs, moving image pieces, ephemera and text vignettes, created to be viewed and read side-by-side, to take the viewer through a multi-dimensional experience; much like reading a novel, visiting the theatre, and going to the cinema at the same time. Quinn is a meditation on grief, loss, loneliness, the human search for meaning, and the possibility of redemption through time and landscape.</text>

Posters, and in particular, advertising posters, are all around us, they have a single and well defined scope: to convey a message for a short amount of time. Then they’re left, exposed to the elements, useless, until they are removed or replaced. The artistic reaction to that is the capacity to find beauty in the spontaneous artistic value the torn posters gain, making the city a free and immense open-air museum.
Second life is about the beauty the torn posters gain just before disappearing, like the agave plant that produces only one flower just before its death.</text>

views of young people on the subject of dreams, opportunities and
aspirations.
FED FROM THE FUTURE also follows the making of the film, and
through it a search for a protagonist: a representative of contemporary
British youth. Stella meets a boy named Alex aka Houdini, who
explains the strong and stoic philosophy he’s adopted to make his
dreams a reality. He agrees to co-write a script with Stella and be
the face of REVERIE. After many iterations of the script was written,
and after two days of shooting Alex walks out of the shoot without
saying a word and Stella is left to finish the film.
Through interviews, photography and artwork, FED FROM THE
FUTURE showcases the 50 young people who finished what Alex
started. It uncovers what Alex stood for, and how his final act was
testimony to his own self-determination. It inspires young people to
find personal autonomy, meaning and motivation during these turbulent
times.
