Volume I – Comme un vivant porte-bonheur (2025) The first volume inaugurates this long-term artistic research by exploring the fragile relationship between presence and absence, between what is inherited and what remains unspoken. Emerging from the artist’s family history — marked by the deportation of his grandfather during the Second World War and by the silences that followed — the book does not seek to reconstruct the past. Instead, it examines how memory continues to inhabit the present through fragments, gestures and invisible inheritances. Photography is interwoven with autobiographical writing, family archives, handwritten documents and handcrafted facsimiles, creating a narrative where each element resonates with the others. The sequencing of images and the material qualities of the book invite a slow reading experience, allowing memory to unfold gradually. An original musical composition by Thibaut Torzuoli, accessible through an integrated QR code, extends the work beyond the printed page. Sound becomes another dimension of the narrative, where silence, listening and emotion participate in the reader’s experience. Title A name given to the resource Vicky by Ilja Keizer 2366.PER.KEIZER Description An account of the resource ‘Vicky’ is a personal and raw collection of portraits and mobile phone snapshots shot in the summer of 2020 by Dutch photographer Ilja Keizer. While the photographer is mostly known for his portrait work, this book has a much more personal, documentary style approach. With shooting just starting spontaneously after meeting Vicky on an awfully hot day, in a small rural town in the East of the Netherlands. The images were made during an intense journey that led them around Europe in a little over 3 months, with the trip ending in a tiny Polish village where Vicky lives. Photographer Dan Bowhay spent 10 Days, 19 hours, 33 minutes, and 15 seconds travelling the length of England, from Land’s End to the Scottish Border near Berwick-upon-Tweed, on local buses and within the restrictions of a disabled bus pass. Bowhay’s photographs are a subversion of the work of classic road trip photographers, with him photographing primarily from the buses, his means of transportation, and not at the destinations themselves. These photographs differ substantially from the classic images of small English villages and picturesque natural landscapes that we are accustomed to seeing on tours of the country, and instead reflect a more realistic vision of England, seen through the scratches, dirt, and condensation on the windows of an ever-dwindling public transportation network. The concessionary pass is intended to provide disabled travellers with the same freedom and independence as able-bodied people, but it falls short of this in many ways. Most controversially, the pass can only be used during off-peak times, a heavily criticised policy that “implies disabled people do not hold a place in the world of work, education settings, or in wider social activities, and dismisses their right to equal opportunities” (Whizz Kidz, 2023). With bus services constantly being cut, and with trains and coaches being excluded from the pass, fewer and fewer locations year-on-year actually remain accessible to travellers reliant on the pass.
