<text>I Heart EK celebrates the beauty of East Kilbride, Scotland’s first new town.

These photographs taken over 20 years capture the details that give East Kilbride its own personality - more colourful than you might imagine, with lots of green space, spiky churches and two front doors.

The book travels from the town centre to the outskirts, from civic buildings, to parks, residential areas and industrial estates. All of them noteworthy in their own way.

As the original Modernist details gradually get upgraded and eroded, I Heart EK sums up what a new way of living looked like at an optimistic time.

<text>Sisters of the Road documents the remarkable lives of forty female American truckers.

In this collection of experiences, personal stories told in the subjects’ own words are set alongside arresting portraiture and images of the vast and ever-changing landscape they traverse.

Michel’s portraits slot her subjects into the unsung history of female migration across the States. From the Pioneer women of the mid-nineteenth century, crossing the country in search of a better future, to Michel’s own individual subjects, Sisters of the Road highlights the female American traveller as both a historical and continued presence.

Each of Michel’s subjects has her own story, her own reason to keep moving. But together, they tell a story of sisterhood. Sisters of the Road tells a story of resilience, of the bravery in starting over, but overall, it tells a story of freedom.</text>

                <text>Recognizing one's inner journey isn't always easy.
When you grow up in the shadow of an ideal, you risk confusing what you feel with what you expect to feel.
Emotions speak to us like an indistinct whisper coming from within. And it is in this uncertainty that the impulse to seek —outside, in the visible world—a sign, an indication, a guide is born.

Thought becomes a pilgrimage, a wandering, often solitary cruise, which passes through silent zones of consciousness and territories where language is made of symbols and intuitions, more than words.

But it is only when you stop looking elsewhere that you truly arrive at the heart of the odyssey.
When you have the courage to shed roles, models, cultural paradigms, then the true self emerges—fragile, powerful, authentic.
And it is there that the meaning of the tour lies: in that rare and profound encounter with oneself.

"USSARO" moves along trajectories that do not follow rational lines.
It is a visual trip nourished by dreams, distortions, and inner visions.

Each photograph is a portal: it introduces us to a space where time is suspended and identity shatters to reveal itself as multiple, fluid, universal.
Beyond appearance, beyond custom.

"USSARO" collects 35mm images and reflections generated by a travel that is not geographical, but existential.
A journey that celebrates the encounter with the deepest essence of the human being.</text>

<text>The Landscape of Murder is a photographic series documenting all the sites where murders have occurred in London, United Kingdom between January 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2012. I have photographed 210 sites where a murder has occurred. All the murders sites photographed were within the M25 Motorway.

My aim is to give memory to what are mostly forgotten events, unseen places, landscapes where great violence has occurred. A violence that is mostly silent, private and unseen to the wider public. Most murders that take place rarely make the news and if they do occupy the news for a fleeting time. The Landscape reverts back to normality quickly after the forensic teams leave. Yet the scar is there, sometimes subtle, sometimes very open, whether it’s a single solitary flower or grieving family and friends. Sometimes there is nothing to show that a life has ended violently on the spot. The project has taken me to parts of London I knew little or nothing about. In the process of documenting these murder sites the project has created an alternative portrait of London, one shaped by violence and inequality.

<text>In the 70’s kids rode Choppers, Chippers, Grifters and Racers. The 80’s heralded a new era. BMX was now the must have bicycle for children and teenagers. Nobody escaped the rapidly expanding phenomenon that started for many with the Hollywood glamour of Spielberg’s movie E.T.
BMX exploded onto the streets and a whole range of new tricks, fashions and sounds invaded homes and schools alike.
As ubiquitous as the Rubik’s Cube in 80’s culture, BMX managed to unite people of all ages, genders and races regardless of social status or ability.
We Were RAD is a four-year project that has amassed an archive of over 12,000 images and hundreds of stories from the kids on the street to those of World Champions.
The first chapter of this exciting project will be a limited-edition hardback book that tells the untold story of British BMX.</text>

<text>Ideas around place and identity have never been unequivocal for Anu Kumar. When the young Melbourne-based photographer returned to to her birthplace of Kavi Nagar, India, for the first time since childhood at age twenty-one, she felt at sea. ‘I remember a feeling of discomfort, of not knowing my place or who I was in that context,’ she says. ‘I began taking photos as an exercise in learning how to be Indian.’

The term Ghar, meaning ‘home’ in Hindi, doubles as the title of this, her debut book, and the broader outcome of her pursuit – one that is as much a new beginning as it is a homecoming. Shooting over a period of five years on a medium format camera, Kumar’s soft gaze meanders between the rooms and courtyards of the family home in Kavi Nagar, and out onto the neighbouring streets, sketching out the symbolic and aesthetic markers of a personal and cultural heritage. Formal portraits of her grandmother, aunts and uncles, echoing the traditional family album, give way to intimate scenes of daily tasks and quiet idleness – a thorough visual record to preserve intergenerational gestures and familial rituals that may otherwise linger in the undocumented everyday.

Kumar’s search for familial closeness was suddenly given a new sense of universality when the COVID-19 pandemic closed Australia’s international borders for almost two years. Edited and sequenced during this period, Ghar also speaks to the enforced distance experienced by cross-cultural families, and the role of photographs as vessels for intimacy and connection. The series contemplates ‘home’ in all its multiplicities. A place, a sentiment, a responsibility; something at once inherently familiar and other times distant and incongruous.</text>

<text>Over the last years Aram Tanis traveled to Asia where, without becoming clear at which location the photographs were taken, he captured urban daily life. And in a way he didn't. In these cities with her millions of citizens he constantly looked for places and situations where people were absent. That is, his pictures, show us human traces in the form of high-rise buildings, the swarming of electricity wires and dirty sidewalks. But the people seem to be wiped from the earth, like the first day after a catastrophe.

Only the animals are there. The tapir. Two peacocks, captured from so close that you almost squint when you look at them. A dog without head or tail, which falls outside the scope of the picture. A white parrot on a stick fills almost the entire image, like the bald corpse of a plucked duck.

Urban Jungle is the result of a thorough investigation into how the urban environment is being experienced.</text>
